Do I really need a fire risk assessment?

In 2005, fire safety in the UK underwent a major change. Gone was the need for fire certificates – replaced instead by the need for all duty holder to ensure a competent person carries out a suitable and sufficient risk assessment of their premises so they can address any issues of concern. Failure to do so can lead to fines and imprisonment.
